12th MikeLoop Newsletter
Hi everyone,
welcome to MikeLoop's 12th newsletter.
The summer has come to Berlin and brought sunny, hot days interrupted by heavy rain. So Fabian and I prepare for our summer break – but before we start into our deserved holidays we have an exciting MikeLoop update for you: The Delay Effect.
Our Delay Effect comes with some unusual features, namely the length and speed sliders which enable you to change the length of the delay in two different ways. You can also change the delay length by tapping in the timing intuitively.
I made a short video to show you how this works:

MikeLoop now comes with 6 effects: Bass, Pitch, Detune, Phone Filter, Delay and Reverb. This means that you can use MikeLoop as a proper effects board for vocal enhancements when you play with your band. I love to change the size of my reverb, add a perfect fourth during my solo, detune the melody of a song or add a subtle delay in the background. All this can be done on the fly in the moment without having to prepare presets at home before the concert. You will see that you will end up using effects more elegantly when you can decide spontaneously how you want to use them.
Speaking of using MikeLoop in a band context: I recently played a concert with vibraphone player David Friedman at Deutschlandfunk Kultur. At some point in the concert I recorded his vibraphone with MikeLoop and played it back at different speeds and in reverse. You can create stunning soundscapes that way:
Meanwhile, Fabian and I decided to experiment with Instagram's Live broadcasting abilities, so we met up and shot a live video. We didn't really announce that live session much since we wanted to understand how everything works. It was a fun experience and we plan to do another round in the fall, so stay tuned for more Insta Live (Mike)Looping!
Here is a clip from our Insta Live session:

Our August update will be another lesson about odd meters, specifically how to practice 7/4 signatures. This will be the last lesson for self studying with MikeLoop. We are thinking of adding different video formats to work with MikeLoop in the future. You will hear more about this once we are ready for this next step.
If you haven't seen the video about how MikeLoop's lessons work you can find it here:

We will send a bi-monthly newsletter to let you know about our monthly MikeLoop updates. Updates may include new MikeLoop lessons, sound effects, new Mikeloop functions and other features.
I wish you all a great summer – keep looping, and see you in the fall!
That's it for today-
try it out yourself – with MikeLoop!
