Sixth MikeLoop Newsletter

25. August 2023

Hi everyone,

welcome to MikeLoop’s sixth newsletter.

It’s been 2 moths that you haven’t heard from me. I was on holiday in August so I decided not to write over the summer. We still updated MikeLoop every two weeks as promised, so now there are quite a few updates to show you in this newsletter.

August updates:

Update #10 – A detune effect for MikeLoop

Update #11 –  A new lesson about scales

September updates:

Update #12 (released today) – A filter effect that makes your voice sound like you are talking through a phone

Update #13 (to be released in 2 weeks) – A new lesson about intonation

Also in this newsletter: MikeLoop release party at A-Trane Jazz Club Berlin on Sept 19th

So here are all updates in greater detail:

Our tenth MikeLoop update is a detune effect. You can pitch your voice by a few cents up or down to create a chorus-like feel. Your voice will sound thicker and somewhat out of tune, depending on how strong you want the effect to be.

You can watch this demo video to see how this works:

We released Update #11 on August 13th. It’s a new lesson about scales. I decided to shoot a new video that shows you how the lessons work. You find it here:

Update #12 will come out today with this newsletter. It’s a filter effect that makes your voice sound like you are talking through a phone. We called it the phone effect, though you can create many more filter effects with this tool. The phone effect comes with an XY-pad, so you can decide how high or low the filtered frequency should be. Here is a video with a demonstration:

On Sept 10 we will release update #13, it will be yet another lesson, this time focussing on intonation. MikeLoop is a great tool to improve your intonation. You can sing long notes, loop them and then add intervals, listen, sing again, until you get your intonation right. It’s an intuitive experience and a feeling of instant gratification when your perfect fourth is actually perfect!

Finally I would like to announce our MikeLoop party, celebrating MikeLoop’s release. The party will happen on Sept 19 at Jazzclub A-Trane in Berlin. I invited 3 loop guests, all of whom have been experimenting with MikeLoop for a while now. I also asked my dear friend Andreas Schmidt to join us on the piano, because I felt like it would be a good idea to loop the piano as well 🙂

So here’s the lineup. There’s always a chance for unexpected surprise guests of course…

Daniel Mattar (vocals and MikeLoop)

Tatjana Sawjalow (vocals and MikeLoop)

Tobias Lux (vocals and MikeLoop)

Andreas Schmidt (piano, will also be looped)

…and myself, obviously

So don’t miss it. It will be an epic, fun loop palooza!

We will send a monthly newsletter to let you know about our bi-weekly MikeLoop updates. Updates may include new MikeLoop lessons, sound effects, new Mikeloop functions and other features.

I teach workshops and perform concerts with MikeLoop. I created a new solo program and I’m very excited to present it to you 🙂

Upcoming concerts and workshops:

Sept 19th, MikeLoop release party at A-Trane Jazzclub Berlin

Nov 24th, MikeLoop loop workshop at HdpK Berlin

That’s it for today-

try it out yourself – with MikeLoop!

Michael
